Footprints International School is proudly accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The essence of WASC is to be on a continuous path of improvement by rigorously and thoroughly evaluating the school, setting new goals, working towards those goals and then re-evaluating progress. In addition, Footprints is authorised to offer the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) as well as the Cambridge Curriculum (CAIE) and exams, culminating in internationally recognised degrees. A course of study in the Khmer language is offered for Cambodian students to earn their national diploma from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS).
Early Childhood Programme
At Footprints, our Early Childhood Programme (ECP) covers key developmental stages for students aged 1.5 to 5 years old, starting from Nursery, with our students graduating from Kindergarten just as they are reaching the age of 6. Child development and pedagogical experts worldwide agree that this developmental stage of children is the most important stage of all, as it has the biggest impact on the future wellbeing, social, emotional and academic development of students. Our ECP programme combines the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) and Cambridge curriculum. Pupils are given time to be creative and innovative during drama, role-playing and rhythmic/music time, as well as refining their sensory and fine motor skills, and engaging in core subjects such as phonics, mathematics and story time. IEYC Units and our Schoolwide Learner Outcomes guide teachers’ planning from Nursery to PreK2, with the addition of Cambridge outcomes in Kindergarten.
Primary Programme
Footprints Primary Programme consists of a diverse curriculum underpinned by Cambridge Primary’s framework of objectives and Footprints’ schoolwide learner outcomes. Core subject coverage includes English, Mathematics, Science, Global Perspectives and Personal Social Health and specialist subject coverage includes Art, Music and PE. Our qualified teacher cohort applies best practice in instruction, grows professionally through continuous professional development and provides learning environments that maximise achievement academically, socially and emotionally.
Secondary Programme
Lower Secondary curriculum is designed to prepare students for the next step of their education. It is based on international best practice in schools and is dedicated to developing learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged. While our core curriculum consists of English, Mathematics, Science and Global Perspectives, we also strive to give our students a well-rounded educational experience by providing subjects such as Art, Music, ICT, Physical Education and Mandarin Chinese. The Upper Secondary curriculum gives students a great chance of finding the path of education they most want to follow. Students get to choose from among three sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and three humanities (Economics, Global Perspectives and History) to self-determine the educational journey that they want to pursue. Our Upper Secondary Curriculum helps students develop higher order thinking skills – analysis, critical thinking, problem solving, presenting ordered and coherent arguments, and independent learning and research.
National Programme
Footprints International School is licensed by the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS). Therefore, General Education (called National Programme at Footprints, which means កម្មវិធីសិក្សាជាតិ in Khmer), is under the supervision of MoEYS. The Programme provides all the core subjects in both Primary and Secondary levels, based on the National Curriculum designed by MoEYS. The​​ subjects offered are aligned with those from the International Programme, which allows students to develop their knowledge and skills by interactively enhancing their personal, intellectual, and physical capacity.

Footprints International School is dedicated to raising the quality of education in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Established in 2007, our school has expanded exponentially, with over 1000 students and a diverse range of teaching professionals from across the globe. Footprints offers classes from nursery to Grade 12 at our two main campuses in Toul Tom Poung and Toul Kork, with our graduating students going on to study in universities all around the world.

Step 2: Family meeting and assessment
Nursery-PreK2’s prospective students: Our Parent Liaison Officer will contact you to schedule a family screening interview. The purpose of this interview is for us to make an assessment of your child’s academic and social development, learn about your family, and gain insight into your child’s educational aspirations and interests. For Kindergarten through to Grade 12: Students applying for placement are required to sit for an age-appropriate Mathematics and Literacy placement test to ensure that they are prepared for the high quality of education offered at Footprints International School. These must be scheduled through the office in advance.

Step 3: Documentation
As the next step in your application, certain mandatory documents should be submitted: 1) Birth Certificate or passport 2) Previous school report cards or transcripts 3) Vaccination Record 4) Official transfer document for Khmer Curriculum (Grade 2 and above) 5) Two 4 x 6 cm colored photographs.

Step 4: Email address
Students and Parents will be provided with their own Footprints email addresses. The Footprints email will be the medium of communication between parents and teachers, as well as being used for logging into Google Classroom. Our IT Representative will assist parents with access to Footprints email at the school to ensure that it is working properly.

Step 5: Bring your own device
Footprints requires our students to bring their own devices to school for Google Classroom. Parents must also bring their devices (Laptop, Chromebook, or Tablet) to register with the Parent Liaison Officer. The IT Representative will install a firewall on every device to ensure the safety and security of your child while browsing. Social media, adult websites, and non-educational websites are blocked. This policy is only applicable for Grade 6 to Grade 12.

Step 6: Payment
Once your child has been accepted, payment of enrolment, capital, and administration fees must be made before your child can start studying. Once the capital and administration fee has been paid, your child's place will be guaranteed. Footprints has a limited number of students per grade level. What are the demographics of the student body at Footprints?
The majority of Footprints students (96.45%) are Cambodian, while the other 3.55% of students come from a range of countries including India, America, South Africa, the UK, the Philippines, Germany, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, China and Malaysia. Gender differences in percentage are 52.17% female and 47.83% male.
What time does my child need to be at school?
The Secondary Campus starts promptly at 8:00 am. All other campuses start promptly at 7:45 am. We have a babysitter at the gate from 7:00 am. We encourage you to drop off your child(ren) before the start of the lesson. We monitor absences and tardiness and record them on the report card, as they have an impact on learning.
When are students allowed to leave school grounds?
No child may leave the campus during school hours unless he or she is with a parent or with an approved adult for a specific school-related activity. Parents who need to take their children out of school during the school day must inform our Family Engagement Office at least 30 minutes in advance. Children will not be released to any unauthorised party at dismissal time. Parents must confirm any change in their child(ren)’s dismissal routine by visiting the Family Engagement Office in advance. The safety of the children is our primary concern. Please exercise caution, patience, and courtesy at all times when collecting students and understand that the school has a duty to care for all children to ensure their safety and safe dismissal from school.
What is the food and drink policy at Footprints?
Footprints offers a healthy lunch menu, with various set menu options. Parents can choose to sign their child(ren) up to receive school lunches by contacting the Family Engagement Office. Alternatively, students may bring their own healthy lunches and snacks to school. Students are not allowed to order or collect food or drinks from delivery drivers. Parents are urged to help their children choose well-balanced, nutritious, and appropriately sized snacks. Food which is healthy and nutritious gives student’s extra energy to concentrate and focus in class. Sweet and sugary foods can leave students feeling tired, shaky or unfocused. Please refer to our parent handbook for a detailed list of suggested healthy snacks, and prohibited foods and drinks.
Does Footprints offer any extracurricular activities?
The school values community-engaged learning activities and as such offers various optional extracurricular activities which range from sports such as football to Chinese classes, arts & crafts, taekwondo and gymnastics. Parents may choose to sign their child(ren) up for these activities by contacting the Family Engagement Office.
