Read to Grow and Raz-Kids – ECP Literacy Initiative

 December 07 ,2023

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent early years literacy initiatives, Read to Grow and Raz-Kids challenge – from October 30th to November 30th 2023. This engaging competition spanned our Early Childhood Programme (ECP) classes across both campuses, and the results were announced on December 5th.

Read to Grow is a celebration of the love of reading and a testament to the strong bond between parents and children. The primary goal per class was to ‘grow’ the biggest flower, where each petal represented a book read at home, and for the Kindy Raz-Kids Challenge, the goal was to earn the largest total number of hours read at home.

Here’s a quick recap of how the initiative worked:

  1. Each child received paper flower petals from school.
  2. Parents were encouraged to read together with their children at home.
  3. For each book read, parents recorded essential details on a petal: the child’s name, book title, and class name.
  4. For Kindy classes, teachers also totalled the number of hours read at home using Raz-Kids reports.

The response was overwhelming, with families actively participating in this heartwarming activity.

The results:

Toul Tom Poung Campus:

  1. The winning class for Read to Grow was the PreK1 Aster class with 279 books read.
  2. The Kindy Iris class winner of the RAZ challenge was Lily with 7 hours and 51 minutes.

Toul Kork Campus:

  1. The winning class for Read to Grow was the PreK1 Dahlia class with 499 books read.
  2. The Kindy Jasmine class winner of the RAZ challenge was Monikethiya with 4 hours and 1 minute.
  3. The Kindy Lilac class winner of the RAZ challenge was Yonghong with 7 hours and 40 minutes.

This was a fantastic opportunity for parents and children to spend quality time together, exploring new stories and nurturing a love for reading.

Congratulations to all participants for making Read to Grow and the Raz-Kidz challenge a blooming success. We are extremely proud of our students!
