(English) Celebrating a Positive WASC Substantive Change Visit at Footprints International School.

 February 28 ,2024

(English) On Monday, 19th February 2024, our Toul Tom Poung Campus was privileged to host Mr. Stephen Massiah from the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) for a substantive change visit and campus inspection. The primary focus of this visit was to inspect our new Early Childhood Programme building, recently introduced sports facilities, and various areas across the campus.

The purpose of this visit was clear—to ensure that significant changes and additions to our school align with the high standards set by ACS WASC, reinforcing our commitment to maintaining excellence in education and campus facilities.

Our journey with WASC accreditation dates back to the 2012-2013 school year, and each step has been a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality education. We successfully received reaccreditation in May 2023, and being a WASC-accredited school validates our dedication to rigorous standards and continuous improvement.

The school’s report highlighted the purpose of this new facility — to provide our youngest learners with a better and safer learning experience. It includes classrooms, a library room, a dedicated covered playground, and a multiple sports court accessible to all primary and secondary students.

The findings of the visit of the substantive change visit were overwhelmingly positive. The collaborative process in designing and building these facilities resulted in well-planned, clean, bright, and purposeful structures. Safety and child protection measures were meticulously addressed, including CCTV cameras, emergency exits, and child-friendly adaptations where needed.

The facilities were found to be highly suitable for planned educational practices, supporting a play-based approach to student learning in the Early Childhood Programme. The leadership team’s commitment to collaboration and development was evident, contributing to a more collaborative environment throughout the school.

In terms of child protection, the campus and new facilities have implemented appropriate safety measures, from controlled access to washrooms and classrooms to regular pest control. The leadership team is already addressing a few minor adjustments to further enhance safety and security.

We deeply appreciate the support and understanding of our vibrant community during this visit. Your involvement is integral to our success, and we look forward to continuing the journey of providing exceptional education and facilities at Footprints International School.
